Words of Wisdom

Crying Out Loud

A Little Girl on Roller Skates

By: Christina V. Montgomery

I was so young when it happened
only ten or so
the strength I have now
I wish I had long ago

I would see him everyday
as I was roller skating by
his evil eyes were always watching
all my friends and I

He would often say "hello"
especially when I was alone
"I'll buy you a soda
before you skate back home"

One day accepted his offer
unfortunately to my despair
he closed the door to lock us in
I remember feeling so scared

He took off my lower clothes
did things I never dreamed
touched me where I never imagined
ripped by shorts down to the seam

When it was all over
he said "Bye - have a nice day"
my heart had hit the floor
there were no words for me to say

I hid it inside
I never made a sound
I never said a word
the truth was never found

It continued for so long
I don't know how no one could see
it was always in his shop
where he molested me

It got worse every time
he would do more and more
he began offering me money
as though I were his whore

How could I possibly be
I was only ten or so
I threw the twenty back at him
in his face I yelled "NO"

He kept trying and trying
until I smartened up my ways
his station was closed down
thank God he went away

I saw him twelve years later
that same look upon his face
that evil look in his eyes
took me to such a dark place

I felt instant hate
I wanted revenge
he was a dirty old man
who molested me and my friends

He still haunts my mind
even though he was in my past
you always remember the bad things
but try to forget them fast

I still see him every night
each time I close my eyes
a little girl on roller skates
who was just passing by

WHERE DO WE RUN?
By: Robbe Zappa

I know a place where I can run and hide,
Where faces and names are all left behind.
They tell me no secrets and tell me no lies,
Hide in the shadows of only the wise.

And we'll run...
So far away.
And we'll run...
So far away.

I know a place called paradise,
Nothing to be and nothing to hide.
Sing for the morning and pray for the night.
See who you are and be what you might.

And we'll run...
So far away.
And we'll run...
So far away.

Is there a place that we can run and hide?
Where faces and names are left far behind?
Is there a place called paradise?
Or am I just running into the night?

And we'll run...
So far away.
And we'll run...
So far away.
And we'll run...
So far, far, far away.
So far, far, far away.

And we'll run...
So far away.
And we'll run...
day after day.
And we'll run...
So far away.
So far, far, far away.
So far, far, far away.
So far, far, far away.
And we'll run!
